My cousin tipped off a new tearjerker blog called Nitty Gritty. It is about this amazing woman who has already lost her 4-year-old child and has 4 more children, plus one on the way. I haven't even begun to read everything yet, but I am moved. Moved to the point where tears are running down my face. How do people get through things like that?! Really? Read her story from the beginning and click on the link to the article written about her. I think she is 30 or so and has been through an amazing feat already! Getting back though...loosing a child is by far my greatest fear. You children are NOT suppose to go before you. It just isn't fair! I am starting to sound like a whiny 3 year-old, but "life isn't fair," really it isn't.
It is so ironic because a couple days ago, I was driving with my two boys and I happen to be thinking that anything could happen. Life could be careless and happy one minute and crashing down on top of you the next. I had the most fun afternoon walking around the lake with the boys, whom had a great time riding in their new jogger. Thoughts start filling my mind that a car could V-off the road and harm my precious everythings. I shake the feeling, hoping it never to return. Then I got in the car and began to drive. What a liberating feeling to be out of the house with two very important people in my life. Then, again, my pessimism kicks in, "Could it all end?" Some idiot could run a red light and change my whole life. The feeling makes me sick, just sick. I have my own fears of dying and trying to accept the concept, let alone having to EVER hold one of my kin in my arms motionless. Sick, just feel physically sick thinking about it.
Having these thoughts in my head and reading my cousin's blog. I am also SO grateful. I put my magazines down and turn off my shows more often to play with my boys, instead of indicating, "one minute," or "hold on." I just think back about how it could all stop in any given moment. I have faith in a higher power, but that scares the shit out of me!-excuse my words of choice.
I am a mother of two wonderful little boys and a beautiful little girl that fill my life with joy everyday. I am a stay at home mom with a wondeful military husband. My husband and I are high school sweethearts and I wouldn't be who I am without him. This is our adventure together...

This is my life
Many people think once you get married, your life is settled and possibly not exciting anymore. Which I joked about often, but that is entirely not true. Having someone for life by your side is the greatest gift. You not only get to experience life, but you get to share it with someone else. Then when it is just you two, the questions come, "When are you buying a house? When are the kids coming?...." People even think that once you have kids, your life is officially boring. You can't go out when you want to and sleep in when you are tired. I actually had touched on these thoughts before these major events happened in my life. Now I realize that the opposite is true. The love for my husband is intense, but even more indescribable when you have kids of your own. When you have a family you are a very close unit that gets to share your life with other great family and friends. I wake up everyday to hear my 10 month old son playing in his crib on the monitor. I walk slowly down the hall and open the door to a smiling blonde haired and blue eyed handsome little man standing in his crib. The expression in his eyes and smile tells me he is happy to see my (sometimes) smile on my face. We go downstairs and make a bottle to have our special-quiet time. I know if I stop upstairs, Wyatt may cry and wake my 2 year old up. I kick my husband off of the couch, so I can manage to suck down a cup of coffee while Wyatt is having his morning bottle hopefully before my 2 year old son decides to grace us with his presence. *Note: my hubby is a light sleeper, and I guess I make "noise" when I sleep. So, he sleeps on the couch. Whatever!* Then Ronnie will take his half awake self upstairs to manage to get into bed, sleep for maybe 30 more minutes until Hayden wakes up. Hayden gets his special daddy time upstairs in the morning. Then chaos sets in.....I have usually 30 minutes before my daycare kids begin to come. The boys need to get dressed and fed, and in the meantime I am still in my PJ's wondering when I can manage to get dressed and brush my teeth?! The kids start coming, so the first round with breakfast starts with my own two kids and one daycare baby. "more waffles, please," coming from Hayden while Wyatt is whining to be next to eat, even though he ate less then an hour ago, but you know he has to do what his brother does. Then once the breakfast rotation is over, the babies are tired and need a bottle. Then the 'big kids' need a snack, so the process of washing hands and sit at the table begin. Before you know it, it is lunch time and the process starts again, but this time the babies are awake and want you to grow 8 arms quick, so you can feed them also. After lunch and the clean up, it is book time and then Ahhhhh...nap time. Then the babies get special playtime and they are tired and want to go to bed. When they are going to sleep, the big kids are wanting to get up. Wow I managed to get a 20 minute break today! yeah!!!:) Then it is pick up time which is chaotic because you want everyone awake, fed and diapers changed before the parents come. Then I get to be with my kids until Ronnie gets home from work about Wyatt's bedtime. Then I get to snuggle with Hayden and get a conversation in with my husband while he is eating his dinner. By the time Hayden goes to bed, I am ready for bed. Then my day starts again tomorrow. I am not complaining, this is my so called life.
Dieting tips...better said then done
I am addicted to tabloid television and magazines. Call me shallow, but it is my form of entertainment and even envy. Since, I have had two wonderful boys back-to-back, weight loss is always on my mind. I was watching Oprah and Dr. Phil (as always) and they are so inspirational. What I get from them about weight loss is do it for yourself. Change your lifestyle, don’t diet. Most of us, know what we need to do, but just don’t. I just make excuses of why and every time I make it out of the house, it is a special occasion, so it is alright to order pasta and even maybe dessert. Lately, having me just be aware of what I put in my mouth and why I am putting food in my mouth seems to help. I don’t realize what I eat when I am stressed. I make more of an effort to be active. I am not talking about working out 8 days a week for 5 hours, I am talking about getting up and doing house work, even more so. Our home is pretty clean, but just getting up and organizing a closet. I play with my children running a round and lifting them in the air. I did that before, but I do more of it. Those are some of my new habits, but here are some from the stars that I found in People Magazine this week.
*The stars like the elliptical machine. *Limits the cocktails to one. *Eats fish. *Pilates *Once a year for a month just eat fruits, veggies, fish and nuts to cleanse the body. *Eat a little bit of something you want, don’t overdo it. *A trainer, "3 days a week of cardio is healthy, don’t go to extremes." *Get plenty of sleep. *Don’t make a big deal if you eat a ’want food’-don’t make a big deal, just move on. *Eat 5 small meals a day. *Curb cravings with peanut butter-some fat and tasty, better than a sweet. *Pasta only at lunch time. *No starches (potatoes/bread) at dinner. *Eat a mid-morning snack like fruit-to keep energy up. *Try fitness classes over machines. *Don’t mix meats and starches b/c it’s too hard for the body to digest. *Eat 70% dark chocolate only-dark chocolate had some health benefits when eaten in small portions. *Make your meals colorful ex. spinach salad with blueberries, apples and carrots. *Eat a meal of higher calories-mellow the next day with a salad. *Keep food out of sight-if you see you want it. *Go on a long walk like 30-40 minutes, you don’t have to run to get in shape. *Get restaurant pasta sauces to bring home and put them over whole wheat pasta or rice pasta. *If there is a variety of desserts, get a little of each, take a bite or two and throw the rest away (wouldn’t that be liberating?!) *Drink alot of water-try Crystal Light. *Don’t eat until you feel like you are going to burst. *Take organic vinegar shots to take toxins out on the body. *Avoid a ton of serious sugar-you go up and then crash. *Portion control (then you can eat what you want within reason). *Swimming or water aerobics! *Lightly grilled chicken, little oil and lemon with a feta cheese salad. YUM! *Get up and exercise before you don’t feel like it later in the afternoon/evening. *With alcohol, get your buzz and stop. *Put your shoulders back and smile. *Wear black. *Spandex! *High-waisted skirts/pants *Wear a dress with a belt up high.
These are some things I found useful. If you want all 100 tips go pick up a People Magazine from the store. The quote that I loved and that is so true is, "What you eat in private shows in public." Oprah raves about this new book called, "The New Earth." I personally haven’t read it, but it is successful, b/c it tells people to live in the present, don’t worry about the past (which you can’t change anyway) or the future, because you will miss the present-your life could pass you by. If you want to loose weight, do it for yourself and do it to feel good about yourself! Good Luck!
