A few things....

There are a couple big events happening in my life lately. I am excited to see my brother be a father. His daughter is going to be born June 3rd, 2008. I am sure I will blog it to let you know the details :) That date is very special to me and Ronnie, because it is our dating anniversary. We celebrated each other on that date for 7 years. Pretty amazing. It will be great to celebrate that date now for my niece. I am planning an open house for them at the end of June, so everyone can meet her. So exciting! I can't wait to see what she looks like. I am anxious to see my brother go through the joys of parenthood. I love him so much and I know he will be an amazing father. Sorry, I have so many thoughts running through my mind.
My Wyatt turns 1 years old on June 8th, 2008. Wyatt and his cousin are going to be a year apart, which is great to think about them growing up together. I can't believe my little Wyatt is going to be a "toddler." It is hard to think of him as a toddler, because he isn't walking yet. He is close and walks with anything that moves, but no steps on his own really. Hayden was walking for 2 months by this one year mark. I am not comparing, really, I just don't get that my baby is getting big. Wyatt is so amazing. He does know so much already. He makes me laugh all the time on a daily basis. He can dance like no other. With a shrugging of the shoulders and the shake of the head, he can get down and dirty. Wyatt enjoys giving things to me. He holds his own bottle (which I have to start weaning, but can't manage to let go) and when he is "all done" he hands it to me. When he has something he isn't suppose to have, I'll say, "No, Wyatt," and he will stop and give it to me. If it keeps up like this through toddler-hood, I'm set! He is changing everyday and I try so hard to remember him like this, because I have forgotten so much of Hayden's cute habits at this age. But I can't even manage to remember long enough to write them down on a blog. Wyatt is just a good, sweet baby. Everyone says that about their own, but really he is.
Hayden is getting bigger also. He is seriously a little person now. He talks so much and has many words. I will catch him counting and saying letters to himself when he is reading or playing with his computer. Hayden is so funny! He loves to be silly and make people laugh. He sleeps in his big boy bed without a nook, which works great! We are done with the nook! Whoo-hoo! But side effect I have noticed though is that he is more emotional. I am not sure if it is the age or not having the nook. But he is so sensitive about anything. If he bumps anything a little, or if he can't get his shoe on that very moment, it is an automatic crying fit. If you say, "No" to him about anything, it is all over. Once he understands what is going on, he is fine, but the crying after a while about everything is nutty! Next feat will be potty training. Ha-ha...I love how I won't let Wyatt grow up and I can't wait for Hayden to. Birth order is so true!
Most of all, I love how Hayden and Wyatt interact with each other. Wyatt loves his big brother so much and Hayden is so protective of, "Baby." (Hayden refuses to call Wyatt by his name, because he thinks it is funny to defy me.) Though, Hayden is starting or REALLY starting the 'I don't want to share phase'. This keeps me on my toes to say the least.
Well with everything, I am sure to keep the world posted.

Cat Tails

We have two cute little kitties that have been a part of our family even before kids. They will both be 7 this fall. Cleo is my baby. Beautiful, orange kitty who recently stopped being so crabby, since we shaved her 2 months ago. She loved it! Caesar is our fun loving, grey and white, boy cat. Ronnie surprised me with him one day. I was completely surprised. He knew I LOVED cats. Which was so sweet. The way Ronnie picked Caesar from his litter at the Humane Society is funny. Ronnie saw all the other kitties sleeping and laying on each other, and then he saw Caesar jumping and running around everywhere. CRAZY That is Caesar to the "T"!!!
Well, we have this problem, even more so in the warmer seasons, that Caesar likes to run out the door to outside. He takes off and hangs out under our porch (where no one can reach him). It drives me nuts now that I usually have my hands full. There's some background, here is what happened yesterday......
So, at about dinner time, we come in from outside and as the door opens, Caesar flies out and goes under the porch. I have learned to let it go, because he usually comes scratching at the back door. Poor Hayden was devastated that "meow, meow" (Caesar's nickname) was outside. By the time dinner was done, I went to check for Caesar, and sure enough, he was at the door. But he brought a friend. Yikes! He had a bird in his mouth, Blah! I panicked! I was trying to get him to drop it, so it wouldn't come in the house. Finally when he did, the poor bird was just lying there-alive. I was thinking that it must be hurt. I am thinking, I need a man! I am not into touching rodents or bugs of any kind. Poor Hayden doesn't like them either because of me. Yes, I classify birds as a rodent where, "I don't touch them." I called Ronnie, but he was at work and I didn't want to be trapped in my house because there was a bird by the door. Then I called my closest available man, my father-in-law Dennis. Have I mentioned how great it is sometimes to have my in-laws next door? Of course, ten minutes later, after arrangements have been made, the bird was gone. Oh...okay, I guess it must have been spooked and was fine now. I hate it when Ronnie works so much, and I hate it even more when stuff like this happens and I just want to be saved. You know?! Urgh! Well my day with Caesar wasn't over.
He snuck out again, and didn't come back all night. Ronnie got home late last night, so I kept having him check for Caesar. This morning, Caesar was still out there. Thoughts came into my head that something happened. We have so many cats in the neighborhood and a street, I thought the worst. Something bad happening to my cats still makes me sick. They were my first babies and they have been there. Sounds stupid, because they are ONLY cats, but it is true. I would have NEVER gotten through living by myself for 9 months while Ronnie was deployed, if I didn't have my cats sleeping by my side every night. Once my kids were born, they got brushed to the side, quite a bit. GUILT. Even though my cats drive me insane 80% of the time, they are priceless and unconditional, especially when I see how much my boys LOVE their "C-eo" and "meow, meow"

Batman!!!!! Da, Da, Da.....

I just wanted to post quickly that two nights ago, Ronnie and I were giving Wyatt and Hayden a bath. Hayden was told that after his bath that he gets to wear his Batman pj's. Hayden excited, we all began to sing, "da,da, da,da, da,da, da, da Batman!" Except, Hayden likes to say "Spiderman." But anyway, Wyatt decided to chime in with a "baaa-maaaaan." Ronnie was like, "is that his first word?" I replied with a smile, "I believe it is." We clapped and cheered for Wyatt, my baby is talking! Wyatt was excited too, so he was kicking his legs and and "baaa-maaaan" was the word of the night. Wyatt now will just smile and laugh when we try to get him to say it. I was happy to have us all there and to share a moment with our family of four.

The Pacifier Diaries

Strategy: Hayden was upgraded to a big boy bunk bed. Keeping a stern and consistent attitude with, "No Pacifier (AKA Nook) in the big boy bed." I also prepped Hayden a week or two before hand talking about it and also my brother and his girlfriend are having a baby, so we will 'give the pacifiers to Baby Madyson.'

Friday May 2nd, 2008
The bunk bed arrives via Slumberland about 12:45pm. The set-up is complete at about 2:05pm. Nap time is the first challenge. Hayden is EXCITED to see his new bed and he doesn't ask for his pacifier at all! He lays in his bed and reads books and talks to Julianna (one of my daycare kids) longer than usual, but goes to bed. Hayden is asleep by 2:40pm. Hayden wakes at 4pm. First, asleep time without the pacifier is a success. He didn't sleep as long as usual, but he slept well and long enough. I am happy. The training is put on hold, since the boys are sleeping at my mom's house due to my cousin's wedding events (pretty certain Hayden had his pacifier) and they continue there until Saturday evening. When my mother in law takes the kids over night. Though Saturday evening, my mother-in-law did NOT give Hayden his nook without even having me ask :) Thanks Minda!**NOTE: This is the worst possible weekend to start the process with my cousin's wedding and all, but it had to be done!

Sunday May 4th, 2008
We get the boys back at 9am, so the first feat is going to be nap time again. It is 1:15pm and we change Hayden's diaper and get him into bed. We read him a story and say our usual, "Good night(ni-night), I love you." He asked for it when we were going up the stairs and I reminded him that we don't need a pacifier. He responds with an, "oh." No problem there. He is asleep within 10 minutes and wakes up at 4pm. I am delighted, and feeling great that this process is going so smoothly....then the evening comes. It is 9pm and Hayden is ready for bed. He confirms also that he is. I lay in bed with him and read stories and snuggle. I tell him that after this book, Hayden is going to sleep. He has no problem. I am cleaning up to get ready for the week and I go to put the boys' suitcase in Hayden's room and he sees me and begins to cry. 'Oh great' goes through my head. Usually, there is no problem, so I didn't think anything of it when I quietly placed their suitcase in Hayden's room. He began to cry and I did what NO parent should do, I laid with him. His eyes were heavy, very heavy. When I thought he was sleeping, I snuck out of the bed and he spotted me. I told him that 'mommy had to sleep in mommy's bed.' I left the room. He cried and then he was quiet. He cried and then he was quiet. This continues for 45 minutes. By this time, Ronnie is exhausted and is at the point where he wants me to just give him his pacifier, so he can sleep. I can feel the exhaustion overwhelm me, especially from our long and busy weekend. Hayden is finally asleep. at 1:26am Hayden is awake and he is screaming. Tantrum starts going. I beg Ronnie not to go in and he does anyway. He is convinced that Hayden is sad and needs hugs. I am angry at this point, because Hayden is not sad. He is angry, tired and wants his pacifier! For the rest of the night, Ronnie sleeps with him. I am HIGHLY disappointed and VERY irritated. He just set us back a day of this pacifier training. Sunday night was pointless! URGH!

Monday May 5th, 2008 Cino De Mayo
Nap time couldn't come fast enough. I was T-I-R-E-D. The kind of tired where you start to see double. Nap time went very well. Hayden slept for 3 hours! He was tired. That evening, we kept T.V. off for a good 2 hours before bed. Then when it was time, Hayden didn't ask for the pacifier once. I was happy. He actually even told me, "Mommy, no nook in the big boy bed." I told him that he was such a big boy and that mommy was very proud of him. Hayden went to bed that night and didn't wake up once and didn't have any problems. I woke up refreshed. I can't say this is the end of our trial with the nook, but I have made the decision that Hayden doesn't need it anymore. I can teach him other ways to cope and he put him self to sleep.
